※ Etiquette
Please be nice to each other, and being nice goes a long way. Respect one another. Don't be rude. Be mature, no flaming. Keep OOC disputes out of IC events. If you have any disagreements, please try to confront each other first before contacting the mods about it. Repeated acts of immaturity and disrespect will not be tolerated.

This is a game, meaning it's supposed to be fun. If you're not having fun, please don't start any drama. And try not to take things too seriously because, again, it's a game.

※ ICness and OOCness
Please note that while characters have no recollection whatsoever of their lives, this does not make them original characters because there are certain personality traits and mannerisms that make the characters who they are. The premise does NOT automatically make this a completely crack community, and although it is an alternate universe community, we encourage the players to keep their characters IC (in character) until certain events happen that may affect or change the character.

Slight OOCness (out of character-ness) naturally may occur, and every person has his/her own interpretation of a character. However, OOCness that goes beyond reason and common sense is unacceptable. Blatant OOCness can be reported here (comments are screened). Please support your views with in canon citations from the source series--moderators will determine whether the concern is valid before confronting the player about his/her point of view in the matter.

※ God-moding and Meta-gaming
Please don't do these things. It's disrespectful to other players and highly annoying.

God-moding (GMing) is moving, doing things to, or otherwise using and manipulating someone else's character without their permission or agreement. Similarly, it is acting with your own character in such a manner that completely disregards another character's abilities. For example, don't just have your character knock someone out in one hit without permission even if s/he is capable of doing so--you might be able to work something out.

Meta-gaming is making your character know things that he wouldn't or shouldn't know unless informed in-game. Simply because something has been revealed to fandom followers doesn't mean all the characters know about that juicy tidbit. Just because players have had an OOC discussion about certain information doesn't mean that your character should know about it. Player knowledge and character knowledge are not equivalent.

If a player is god-moding or meta-gaming with serious impact on the game, please report it here (comments are screened) with cited instances. Moderators will determine a course of action from there.

※ Language
This is an English-speaking community; for those who are not native English speakers, please try to use your best English. When in doubt, MS Word can be helpful with spelling and grammar check functions. Browsers like Firefox and Safari can check spelling as you type comment responses, and Opera offers a spell check as a right-click menu option as long as you install the English dictionaries.

To native English speakers, please be understanding to non-native English speakers.

The only exceptions to using proper English are if, in canon, your character writes or speaks a certain way, uses certain hard-to-translate expressions that are limited to a certain language/dialect, or speaks in an uncommon language (such as Moonspeak, Al Bhed, Elvish, what have you...). For the last exception, please provide translations or link to a translator for player reference and convenience.

※ Age Restrictions, Log Ratings and Warnings
This community does not have any age restrictions or limitations; however, please indicate appropriate warnings and ratings on all logs.

Also, this community is het and slash (male/male and female/female) friendly, incest friendly, and what have you. But PLEASE make sure to friends lock mature, explicit, risque, and highly questionable content. Anything rated NC-17 must be locked; if we catch it, someone reports it, or the comm is flagged, you will receive a warning and your post WILL be deleted. When in doubt, ask a moderator for advice or friend lock it anyway.

Similarly, if your log starts out on the innocent side but transforms into something else, please be sure to edit your warnings and post security. Thank you in advance.

※ Activity/Inactivity Checks and Hiatus
Each character will be checked for activity (or inactivity) every two weeks. As long as a character has made at least one journal entry or participated in at least one log within that span of time, that character is considered active. There will be a set schedule for each check, and the two week period for the next check will also be posted at that time.

For those who have multiple characters, please try to play each of them regularly to prevent being marked inactive. If a large number or all of your characters repeatedly wind up marked inactive, please consider dropping some of them. Although you might love and enjoy playing all those characters, frequent inactivity indicates an inability to dedicate the substantial attention that your character(s) need.

If your character remains inactive over two consecutive activity checks (1 month), s/he will automatically be removed from the community on the third consecutive activity check.

For players who would like to go on hiatus, please comment here, in the OOC community, or in your journals with an approximated span of time that you will be unavailable. If you will be unavailable or inactive for longer than a period of three weeks, we advise that you please drop the character. Moderators will take note of your absence; if you cannot update your character(s) after one week from your expected return date, your character(s) will automatically be removed from the community, and you will have to re-apply for them.

※ Character Applications and Limitations
All players must submit character applications. The application provides useful insight on your perspective take on a character and a run-down to those who are unfamiliar with your fandom. Please keep your application handy (like in an OOC post in your journal), and don't forget to introduce your characters in the OOC community (preferably in your 'birthday' post as explained here).

This is a multi-fandom or panfandom community.

We do accept original characters, completely original as well as those inserted into fandoms. However, OCs from specific fandoms cannot be related to the any of the characters of that fandom because it would have altered their canon somehow.

We allow characters that have been affected by histories in different RP communities on a case-by-case basis. Please include and mark RP history that you wish to include in the background portion of the application.

A player may apply for up to three characters from a single fandom on a case-by-case basis dependent on the size of the fandom. Please do not apply for multiple characters from the same fandom who greatly affect each other or are highly interactive with each other.

Currently, players can apply for as many characters as they like, but this rule is subject to change with the community's growth. If and when this community has between 25-30 active and unique characters, triples of a single character are allowed; however, a player can only have one copy/version of a single character. (Example: There can only be three versions of Cloud Strife played in this community, but one can only play a single version of Cloud at any given time.)

Please note that in the event you voluntarily drop a character, you cannot reclaim the character for a two week period. So please give proper consideration in character drops, because other players will be allowed to apply for the character after you have dropped him/her.

※ Joining and Arriving
Before RPing in Edensphere, you will have to apply for the characters that you intend to play. The application is here.

If your application is approved, you will receive further instructions--upon your character's arrival in Edensphere (his/her 'birthday'), s/he will immediately meet a guide who assists him/her in preparing to lead a new life. The guide prepares a record for your character and provides him/her with one fresh set of clothes, a journal, a map, and a small amount of money. Because more than one character may share the same birthday, we request that your character does not post in his/her journal until introduced in the OOC community and is assigned to a birthday log in which new arrivals can interact shortly after they arrive. Additionally, please read further notes about the Edensphere journals.

Moderators will not reject applications without giving a reason for doing so. Please note that we are not expecting to reject any applications, but this is a disclaimer in case the situation should arise in the future.

※ Character Names
Those who arrive in Edensphere know nothing of themselves and only their dream; therefore, character applications include the dreams and prospective character names for one's arrival in Edensphere. Typically, one's name should be related to something from the dream if it isn't some obvious trait or characteristic.

This easily can lead to a lot of confusion, so we ask that on you fill in the name on your character's LJ profile as:
Edensphere Name (Character's Real Name)
Log tags will be set up by the moderators, so please do not attempt to write your own tags but instead please post your entry, and afterward you can use the tag log function () to choose from the listed tags. We also keep an updated list of character names in the list of taken characters.

In the event that your character realizes and wants to use his/her real name, please notify a moderator to update your info and do a quick change on the log tags. If your character is a double or triple, the moderator will assign the means to distinguish your character from the others.

※ Journals
On arrival, the guide will give a character his/her journal, which is made of special paper from the tree in the midst of the sphere. The special nature of the paper makes it so that anything that is written in the journals can be seen by all others who possess one. Nothing that is written is ever private, and all messages from one person to another can be seen by everyone else. Like paper in our world, writing can be made illegible, struck out, completely obliterated, accompanied by doodles, and so on. (However, if your post includes images, please place them behind a cut in consideration for others.)

In the event that a character loses his/her journal, s/he can visit the journal maker/paper person. A new journal can be created for a small price, but don't be surprised if the lost journal's entries turn up again someday.

Edensphere does not have a networked system such as the Internet. Therefore, journal posts cannot be made as private, filtered, or voice posts. While it is possible that some technologically savvy character may find computers and attempt to network them, there is a force working to render such networking completely impossible--perhaps you will find out more about it later.

※ Maps and Layout
Because Edensphere is largely free game, character activity is highly dependent on the environment--how would your character think or feel finding him/herself sent to find work on floating islands beside a giant tree? Why are people washed of all their memories and left only with a simple dream to start a new life in a place like this?

The world of Edensphere is a floating sphere, surrounded by a hard and thick but crystal clear substance (usually referred to as Sphere's Glass). The world inside the sphere splits into five levels connected by The Stairway to the Stars, which is not actually a stairway but an elevator. From the outside, The Stairway to the Stars is a metallic cylinder visible only on the lower three levels; on the two top levels of Edensphere, it is embedded in a large tree called the World's Oak. Edensphere inhabitants namely reside and work on the two levels occupied by the enormous tree, which extends beyond the Sphere's Glass through an opening at the top.

The image to the right is a simple two-dimensional diagram of the Edensphere world.

Further information, maps, and level descriptions can be found in this post.
※ Employment System
After your character's arrival, s/he will be advised to seek employment while assigned to live in the temporary residential area of Square Zero. Your character will only be allowed to stay in his/her temporary quarters up to three weeks; as soon as that time period is over, s/he will be forced to leave. Hopefully by that time, your character will have obtained a job.

A character is assigned to a certain Square Zero residential section based on his/her job position. Edensphere appears to have some form of centralized employment for its general maintenance and upkeep as well as the protection and well-being of its residents. Additionally, records of each resident's occupation are given to the guides in The Hall of Beginnings, but none know or understand how they obtain such accounts. The employment system and residential living arrangements seem closely intertwined and have been so for such a long time that no one recalls how or why it was structured that way.

Despite this, there are occupations that also exist beyond the system; Edensphere has its share of thieves and bandits, as well as a flourishing black market. Naturally these jobs are involved in some shady business and are not included on a resident's records. But what laws are these businesses breaking anyway?

For an organized listing of jobs available to Edensphere residents, please see the posts under 'employment' in [info]npc_kun.

※ Regaining Memories
Although all characters arrive without any memories, there are events and opportunities to earn senses of one's memories back by using a memory crystal. Every once in a while they are planted in the ever-changing Wilderness, but perhaps one can find them somewhere in the marketplace if s/he looks hard enough (and pays the right price).

Using a memory crystal allows a character to experience one and only one memory. Choosing to relive a memory is only part of the gamble--one can only experience the memory in limited senses. Perhaps it's only the taste of blood and the sound of screaming; maybe it's a silent movie, limited to sight and touch; or one could be drowning in the scent of flowers. The characters never know which senses will be regained during the experience (but the players do because moderators will assign senses to each crystal with its appearance).

Similarly, while entering the City Without Shape seems completely impossible, there will be events when a number of characters may suddenly gain access and fully experience other characters' memories.

※ Character Abilities
Completely wiping a character clean of memories might also affect some or all of a character's abilities. Characters do not lose abilities that are innate or those similar to riding a bike; however, they must rediscover such abilities in a natural manner. For example, a skilled fighter like Sephiroth, will still be a perfectly skilled swordsman with superhuman strength and agility. Characters from Naruto, who use chakra to walk on water or run up trees, might find themselves in a predicament that reveals their ability to do so.

All have the potential to relearn any abilities s/he had until his/her arrival in Edensphere as long as it's within reason. Of course, it is also possible to learn new abilities as long as it's within a character's IC potential. (If you have questions about character-specific abilities, feel free to contact a moderator.)

※ Disappearances, Death and Rebirth
Disappearances are hardly uncommon, and dying in Edensphere is always a possibility.

Characters who disappear for a minimum period of two weeks (equivalent of an activity check period or the length of a hiatus) are considered missing parties. An NPC search team (that characters are free to join or set up) is sent for the for the following period of two to three weeks--this is the explanation for the waiting period of an expected return from hiatus or the next scheduled activity check. If the character does not return after said period of time, the character is assumed to have disappeared completely or have died; at this point, the characters are automatically removed from the game in accordance to activity check and hiatus rules.

Voluntary character drops/removals are also considered missing parties. In-game, an NPC search team will be sent for a period of two weeks in which the missing party simply cannot be found--this is the explanation of the two week waiting period before a player can reclaim a dropped character, who is available for other players to apply for. After those two weeks, if the character is still available, the player can pick up his/her character, who may either (1) be found by the search team (2) have died and can be reborn in the Hall of Beginnings (3) have been lost in the City Without Shape.

After a character's death, s/he may be reborn in the Hall of Beginnings. Memory loss is the player's choice, but doing so is like hitting the reset button for a video game. Please inform the moderators if you would like to change your character's dream and/or Edensphere name for the 'new round'. Since it is a brand new start, we advise that your character join a new birthday log. However, if your character is reborn without memory loss, guides may already have records of him/her and welcome the character back to Edensphere.

※ Calendar and Holidays
Just to let you know, the creators of Edensphere do not celebrate most traditional or religious holidays. Therefore, we have created our own calendar of holidays and events that we allow to take place in the community; we are open to suggestions as long as the events do not fall closely near actual holidays that they bear resemblance to. In advance, we thank you for your understanding.

Maybe I missed it somewhere, but are the OCs simply limited to the needed ones for the plot, or are we allowed to app our own original characters as well?

Nevermind. I missed the header at the top of the table in the profile. ("Multifandom")

My bad.

It's okay--I'll make it a little more obvious then. XD
